What is Forestry Mulching?

Forestry mulching is a form of land clearing that involves the use of machinery to grind, cut and clear out any unwanted vegetation.

It is a better alternative to burning land as it will not risk fires and is more eco-friendly, often supplying the land with much needed organic material to continue the cycle of growth.

We have developed innovative methods to deal with dead or diseased vegetation, we also provide services for:

  • Fire Breaks

  • Fire Suppression

  • Fuel Breaks

  • Habitat Enhancements

  • Nature and Snowmobile Trails

  • Flood Channel Controls

  • Reduction of Slash Piles

  • Prepare Re-seed Areas

Eco-Friendly

Other older methods of land clearing often pose risks for the eco-system and will cause problems in the future.

Soil erosion can occur by disturbing the soil from uprooting trees/stumps and pushing trees over. This can have disastrous consequences to the soil horizon and the benefits it contains for future plants and tree species.

The mulch leftover creates a barrier for both the soil and vegetation left around it. It keeps the area moist for longer and returns nutrients to the soil from the gradual decomposition of humus (organic matter).

Requires No Permit

Since this style of land clearing is often smaller and easier to manage, it requires no permits or permissions from the government.

For an average sized plot of land, this service can often be completed within a day with no paperwork necessary.

Pest Control

When mulching vegetation to the ground, it gets rid of places for ticks to hide. Considering the increasing health risks arising from these pests, mulching may be a great alternative for pest control.

Properly spacing trees so they aren't too close together can also aid in reducing the risk of an insect outbreak that can wreak havoc onto the tree populations.

Fall army-worms, pictured on the left can cause devastating damage to vegetation and can easily defoliate a tree with large numbers.

Quick and Affordable

A site usually only requires one machine, unless there are varying levels of vegetation and terrain. This means one machine can do what a team with traditional methods does in a much shorter time frame.

It gets rid of the prep, cutting, felling, hauling and site clean up by reintroducing the mulch to the environment and leaving zero waste behind.

Winter

Any Weather and Terrain

Forestry mulching can be done in almost any type of weather situation: rain or snow, hot or cold temperatures, it is highly adaptable to many unforeseen changes in weather and patterns.
